What is Adlerian?
An Adlerian is a helping professional who is utilizing the principles of Adler and his “Individual/Positive Psychology” theory. This theory is focusing on the importance of nurturing, a sense of belonging, and mutual respect for individuals. An Adlerian focuses on individual goals with our 5 life task areas: Self, Social, Spritual, Work, and Love, as an important part of motivation and the cause of the behavior. The past does play a role in the possibilities of learning opportunities but the choice to move in a healthy direction reflects the ability to create personal change. As a counselor in both telemental health and in-person counseling, I reflect with my clients on what is motivating them to move in the direction they seek. The therapeutic relationship will often utilize interventions based on this theory by creating acceptance with healthy confrontation for positive change. I have completed trainings through the Idaho Society of Individual Psychology.
Other Services.

Talk therapy is traditional in person counseling to process life transitions and mental health concerns. It is an open therapeutic relationship between client and counselor and moves at the client’s pace.
Mindfulness.
Mindfulness is slowing down ones thoughts and body to focus on the present moment. We can often get overwhelmed with our life task areas that we begin to negatively react to situations instead of responding.
